You don’t have to work very hard to experience a nice view in Laguna Beach.
An ocean view, a hilltop vista or a tree-lined canyon. All are examples of why Laguna is Laguna. Ocean, mountain, canyon. Expansive, rugged, idyllic.
Each view can change throughout the day as the earth moves through its arc. The microclimate throws more uncertainty. One minute it’s sunny, and the next brings a thick marine layer. Sometimes, you can go to the Top of the World and escape the wet blanket.
You look down and marvel at the thermodynamics of it all. Hot and cold, high and low, light and dark.
It’s easy to let go, to let your mind wander. Perhaps that’s another reason why Laguna is unique. We know how to let go.
This natural release is like a daily dopamine kick, a way to recalibrate our worries. Every day we come to expect the reward of beauty. Our brains become hardwired to visual pleasure – the contrasting blue green of the water, the undulating variety of movement, the crags and paths and caves.
We are addicted, which is why it’s in our blood.
The views of Laguna, any view, are the reason we see with new eyes every day.
The reason we see with our hearts.
